The NSW Senior State Age Swimming Championships have been taking place at Olympic Park this week and #TeamUNSW has been outstanding in the pool. The competition took place over six days with many members of the UNSW team competing in multiple events across the week.
At the end of the event, UNSW Swimming Club came away with a total of 22 medals; seven gold, 10 silver and five bronze and 44 finals appearances.
UNSW students Tom Berryman and Luke Mallia have been extremely busy across the championships, competing in seven events between them. Berryman finished 20th in the 50 metre freestyle and seventh in the 100 metre and 200 metre backstroke. 200 back + 100 free.
Mallia came in 14th in the 100 metre breaststroke and 9th in the 200 metre breaststroke and also competed in the 200 metre individual medley.
Mela Delmenico was the most outstanding performer for the UNSW team, coming away with four golds, three silvers and a bronze for the meet.
Congratulations to the whole team for a sensational performance. The club now moves to the NSW Open Water Swimming Championships at Penrith on Friday and Saturday before taking a well deserved break over Christmas.
