In a score that mirrored the Matildas tight loss to Italy in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, UNSW’s own women’s football team were narrowly defeated by St George on opposition soil. UNSW’s O’Rouke manoeuvred past the St George defence to put her team on the scoreboard.

The Raiders kicked off their preseason tonight at David Phillips tonight and the players are excited to be back.
In other news, UNSW Raiders player Luca Brundu has travelled to Walnut California to play Gridiron for the Mt Sac Mounties and Kira-lea Dargin-Barsukoff has made her international debut during 2019 with the New York Wolves after playing her rookie season during 2017 with UNSW Raiders. Kira –Lea, a proud Wiradjuri woman from Orange, becomes the first Indigenous women to play gridiron at a professional level as part of the American Womens Football Alliance (WFA). This full time mother of three, full time university student and cancer survivor is also passionate about creating opportunities for upcoming indigenous and disadvantaged youth.
