Things are starting to heat up with many of our winter sports heading for the mid-point in their competitions. This week has been about consolidating ladder positions and building team connections to push for finals. Great to see so much #TeamUNSW spirit around the grounds in Sydney this weekend.
AFL
A solid five wins for the Bulldogs this weekend sees the club powering on through the tough middle period of the season. The Women's Premier Division team are holding on to fourth place on the ladder, while the Men's Premier Division team are looking a little more comfortable in third. The next few weeks will really define the remainder of the season and our teams will be looking for strong performances to cement their places in the finals. And how's this for a milestone? On the weekend Bulldogs stalwart David Backler played his 450th game for the club. A huge achievement by anyone's standards. This weekend the club has its annual Ladies Day at Henson Park in Marrickville so make sure you get out and sport the teams.

HANDBALL
The final round of competition wasn't kind to our UNSW Handball teams. Unfortunately both men's and women's teams suffered narrow defeats. The men's team will take on Sydney Uni in the semi finals on Friday 24 May, with the winner to compete in the grand final the following Friday night,

HOCKEY
With the men's teams enjoying a break in competition this week, the women's teams flew the flag for UNSW across their two leagues. The teams in the Women's Metropolitan League are tracking strongly for finals with all four teams in the top four of their respective divisions. While in the Sydney East league, our UNSW 1 and 2 teams are in third and first place respectively after six rounds of competition.

NETBALL
Some strong results, particularly from our A Grade teams this week. UNSW Sies are looking comfortable at the top of the A1 ladder, yet to lose a game in 2019. The season is only young and all teams are still in the hunt for finals at this stage.

FOOTBALL
At the halfway point in the women's competition our UNSW team is hanging on to 10th place and will need to lift in the second half of the season. A strong game against the bottom of the ladder Inter Lions this weekend should help set them straight. Meanwhile our men's team recorded a good win against the fourth-placed South Coast Flame and will look to take that form into next week when they meet the sixth-placed Auburn.

RUGBY
Not the week our teams were hoping for against Hunters Hill. Only one win from five games this week, the Blunt Cup team getting the job done to carry the flag for UNSW. They currently sit in third place on the ladder, as do the Stockdale Cup team, who had their first loss this week to the top of the table Hunters Hill.
