Around the Grounds: 14-16 February
After a wet and wild few weeks, the sunshine was back on the weekend and with it is Around the Grounds. Keep up to date on the latest from our UNSW sporting community.

WOMEN'S CRICKET
A big win for First Grade, who were able to defeat Penrith with 26 overs to spare. UNSW Elite Athlete Program member Carly Leeson starred with the ball after Penrith won the toss and elected to bat. Leeson took 3/16 in her 10 overs, proving both attacking and economical. Olivia Porter (2/21) and Jade Allen (2/30) were also significant contributors. After Penrith finished their 50 overs with 8/136, Leeson opened the batting with the ever-reliable Bess Heath. Leeson raced to 14 before being dismissed, but Heath powered on, finishing on 42, before Erica James (36) and Kate Owen (24) finished the job in 24 overs. The team are powering up the ladder and now sit in third place.
A tough game for Second Grade, coming up against a determined Campbelltown-Camden side. Kirsten Wraith put on a strong bowling display, taking 4/33 as well as a run out. Universities managed to limit their opponents to 153, but weren't able to back up with the bat. Wraith was again the stand out, managing 17 before being run out. Third Grade had a huge win against UTS North Sydney, Diana Lozell top scoring with 32*. It was a team effort with the ball, with a very economical display of bowling to dismiss their opponents for 42 with four wicket takers and a run out.
MEN'S CRICKET
In Second Grade, UNSW won the toss and batted and put on a strong total of 248, with William Wolter (64) and Jake Greenberg (52*) the big contributors. Blacktown managed a few overs before the close of play for the day and will resume on 1/5 with the breakthrough coming through Akash Biradar.
In Fourth Grade UNSW bowled first and dismissed Blacktown for 145. Dayle Carew and Mitch Law did most of the damage with the ball, taking four and three wickets respectively. UNSW will resume this week on 0/32. UNSW also bowled first in Fifth Grade, dismissing Blacktown for 186. John Lupton was the pick of the bowlers with 3/23. They resume this week on 0/8.
WATER POLO
The UNSW-Wests Killer Whales had two big wins over the Hunter Hurricanes in the Australian Water Polo League, winning their matches 18-4 and 23-5 over the weekend. In the second match, UNSW Elite Athlete Program member Amy Ridge starred for the Killer Whales, scoring seven goals.
The UNSW-Wests Magpies also had two strong wins, defeating the Hunter Hurricanes 11-8 and 19-12. UNSW students were in the scoring with Tim Putt and Angus Lambie scoring in both matches, Lambie with four goals in the second match.
