Invited to attend the NSWIS rowing camp in January and a selection regatta
for the Australian junior team, Victoria is an excellent chance for the
junior World Championships in Germany in July and is aiming for the 2004
and 2008 Olympics. |
Dan
Christian - Cricket INDIGENOUS RURAL SCHOLARSHIP
Hailing from Narrandera, Dan has achieved at an elite level in both Cricket
and Rugby League. He is currently in the NSW U21 Colts Team, the NSW U19
NSW Team and is a current UNSW First Grader, all at the age of 18. Dan was
also recently selected in the Aboriginal Australian squad being captained
by Jason Gillespie. Having given up a promising Rugby League career to focus
on cricket he is touted as future international. |
Jonathon
Dore - Gymnastics/Trampolining
Another future Olympian, Jonathon will be competing on the international
stage at the World Championships in Demark in July, World Games in Japan
and Goodwill Games in Brisbane in 2001. |
Greg
Eyears - Athletics DAVID PEARSON LEXCEN SCHOLAR
Continuing Scholar, Greg won the State Titles in the U20 110m Hurdles and
gained a silver in the Opens. He ran four World Junior qualifiers, won AUG
and is a real contender for the World Uni Games |
Stuart
Gomez - Badminton
Stuart won the Men's Singles, Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles at the 2000
Australian Junior Championships as well as captaining the World Junior Championships
team. He will almost surely be an Australian Representative at the 2002
Commonwealth Games and 2004 Athens Olympics. |
Peter
Hatton - Mountain Biking
Another 2004 Olympics chance, Peter recently won the mountain biking Oceania
Challenge and will qualify for the 2001 U19 World Championships. He has
already had a first and second place in the U19 national mountain bike series. |
Todd
Hoare - Cricket PETER RITCHIE LEXCEN SCHOLAR
Continuing Scholar, Todd was selected in the NSW Colts Team which won the
National Championships. He maintains his position in the First Grade line-up
and has been a member of the Sports Association Executive in 2000 |
Nelli
Jackson - Water Polo LIZ WEEKES SCHOLARSHIP
Nelli, from Armidale has made her way through the representative teams of
North West Schools, NSW Combined High Schools and then in the New South
Wales Schools team that won the Gold Medal at the Nationals. |
Laura
Keating - Squash JOE NORMAN LEXCEN SCHOLAR
1999 Lexcen Scholar, Laura has recently returned from studying in Europe
for one year. A former Australian Junior Champion, in 2000 she was selected
in the Australian Team for the World Championships, finishing second and
she is currently in the top 50 in the world rankings |
Zac
Kirkham - Rowing
A former AIS Full Scholarship recipient, Zac has rowed at the last two World
Championships. He finished 4th in the Men's Open Heavyweight Coxed Pair
and despite narrowly missing Olympic selection for the 2000 Olympians he
will almost certainly be representing Australia at Athens in 2004 |
Simon
McGowan - Rugby Union SIMON POIDEVIN LEXCEN SCHOLAR
A powerful centre, Simon has been playing First Grade for the club despite
still being eligible for Colts. In 2000 he was selected in the NSW Suburban
Rugby Union U21 Representative Team and won the man of the match. |
Luke
Reilly - Hockey RURAL SCHOLARSHIP
From Alstonville , Luke is on the verge of an impressive hockey career.
He is the goalkeeper for the U18 NSW Team who are National Champions, and
is also a member of the NSW U21 squad currently in selection trails for
the Nationals in April. |
Timothy
Richardson - Cricket LAWSON/SLATER SCHOLARSHIP
From the Illawarra region, Tim came to prominence after scoring a century
for NSW Country Colts against Queensland Colts, catapulting him into the
NSW Colts Team. A current first grade opener for UNSW he was selected in
the 1999/2000 Sydney Cricket Association XI. |
Christopher
Palmer - Sailing
Continuing Scholar, Chris was selected to represent Australia at the 470
Class World Championships in Hungary. Since the Olympics he has been involved
in yacht racing winning the Beneteau Cup, the Gascoigne Cup and the Australia
Day regatta. |
Jeni
Whalan - Sailing
Over the past seven years Jeni has represented the Australia in the past
two World Championships in sailing. She is currently ranked no 1 in Australia
and No. 17 in the world in women's match racing but is now concentrating
on the Yngling class to hopefully gain an Olympic berth in 2004. |
Craig
Wing - Rugby League HONORARY SCHOLARSHIP
Currently playing professional Rugby League for the 2000 NRL Grand Finalists,
Sydney City Roosters he continues his sporting performances at the highest
level |

Joel
Wing - Water Ski
Continuing Scholar, Joel won the 2000 Japan Open both in Tricks and Overall,
he is currently ranked 19th in the world, has recently broken the Australian
record twice and will likely be in the world top ten by the end of the
year
