About the Club

About the Club....

e are a small, but enthusiastic club affiliated with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sports Association, and with ArcheryNSW. Now in our 28th year, the club is comprised of UNSW students and the general public.
As a club, our focus is on having fun and enjoying archery. That being said however, many members of the club do regularly compete in local, state, and national competitions.
Whatever your goals may be: whether to have a great time and learn more about this ancient and traditional sport, or to hone your skills for competition, I am sure we will be able to help.

Target Ranges:
We have our own indoor facility on level 1 of the UNSW Uni Gym, Kensington. This room can hold up to 15 archers shooting at a time. Shooting distance is 14 metres.
We share outdoor facilities with Sydney Bowmenat Latham Park, South Coogee. Shooting distances are from 18 to 90 metres.

Equipment:
The club is fully equipped with all the gear necessary for shooting, including protective gear, aluminum arrows of varying lengths, and a large number of recurve bows for use by members.
Owning your own gear is not necessary - the club can provide you with all the equipment you need to shoot.

Coaching and Instruction:
The club has 4 coaches - these people are available weekly to assist you with any problems you may have. We also regularly arrange advanced coaching days with a national archery coach for our more experienced members.
Beginners courses are run by the club for those new to the sport. These courses are an ideal way to get a taste of archery to see whether it is a sport you enjoy and would like to continue further with.
We require that people who have no previous archery experience, to take a beginner course before they join the club, for their own safety.

Buddy Program:
The club runs a buddy program which aims to assist new members to settle into our club easily. After completing the beginners course, you will be optionally assigned to a buddy. The buddy will assist you with any problems ranging from teaching you how to repair equipment, to introducing you to other club members.

We are more than just a sporting club. The atmosphere is friendly and social, with events throughout the year including:

Easter novelty shoot

Pizza nights

Movie nights

Trivia nights

Christmas party (combined with Sydney Bowmen)

including the infamous pyramid-climbing tradition

We are open to more suggestions!!
